VICKI WATSON RGN SQHP FNSPH FNCP (Professional Body Representative)
Founder - National Society of Professional Hypnotherapists
Vicki Watson, as a young student nurse, was privileged to witness hypnosis being instrumental in helping save a young girl's life. This event triggered her interest in the subject and encouraged extensive study into the phenomena of hypnosis as a very effective treatment modality.
Vicki spent over two decades in general and intensive care as a Registered General Nurse before deciding to make her long-standing involvement in hypnotherapy known and, having completed a training course in England, began practicing as a Clinical Hypnotherapist in Perthshire where she founded Twa Acres Clinical Hypnotherapy Centre in 1978, one of the first organisations of its kind in Scotland.
Over the years, she has unrelentingly promoted hypnotherapy for the superbly influential tool that it is in the fight against illness. She often gave workshops and lectured groups within the Health Service and other related bodies and, besides being interviewed regularly on local and national Radio & Television, Vicki has been guest speaker at Dundee University Medical Society Annual Symposium, Abertay University and many other venues throughout Scotland. She has also had a number of articles on hypnotherapy published in various magazines.
She lectured on a regular basis to student nurses at the University of Dundee School of Nursing & Midwifery and to Perth Palliative Care Course nurses on the role hypnosis can play in the control of chronic pain in the Health Service.
In 1989, Vicki and husband Neil decided that, if they were to oversee the calibre of hypnotherapy training they believed to be desirable, they must set up their own training school and thus the original Twa Acres Clinical Hypnotherapy Training Centre was established and became the then official Training School for the National Society of Professional Hypnotherapists (NSPH) - an organisation that originated as a support system for all NSPH members.
In 2001 Vicki was awarded a Life Fellowship of the National Council of Psychotherapists. This prestigious award was given in recognition of Vicki's long and unstinting dedication to the field of psychotherapy and hypnotherapy.
Vicki continues to practice hypnotherapy part-time besides being responsible for collating and editing an extensive quarterly journal for all NSPH members. She remains on the NSPH Advisory Council and is also on the board of the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council as their Scottish Representative.
